Adopted by the GCL Commission on September 26, 2018.
It is the intent of the Gloucester County Library System (GCLS) to comply with Title 17 of the United States code, titled “Copyrights,” and other federal legislation related to the duplication, retention, and use of copyrighted materials. U.S. Copyright law prohibits the unauthorized reproduction or distribution of copyrighted material, except as permitted by the principles of fair use.
Gloucester County Library System is not responsible for the improper or illegal use of any copies of materials from its collections. GCLS staff will provide any information available for specific items that it has available, but it is ultimately the patron’s responsibility to determine the appropriate use of an item. It is the patron’s obligation to determine and satisfy copyright or other use restrictions when copying, publishing or otherwise distributing materials from GCLS collections. Any responsibility for the consequences of copyright infringement lies with the patron.
